Sea School – Sea School is a non-affiliated (non-union or state supported) independent training institution with permanent training facilities in Mobile, AL, Charleston, SC, Ft. Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, and Panama City, FL, and Baldwin, NY. Sea School offers BST, BRM, GMDSS, Lifeboatman, as well as, 20 + other US Coast Guard approved courses.

Young Memorial – Actually the Southeast Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus, located in Morgan City, LA. Young Memorial caters primarily to the Offshore Supply Vessel Industry and offers a full range of STCW courses, including BST, BRM, and GMDSS.

River School – The River School is located in Memphis, TN and primarily serves the Western Rivers. They have a separate Radar School which services both river towboats and tug personnel.

Southern California & Northwest Merchant Mariner Training Services – These west coast sister schools are innovators of design and application in bridge and radar simulation. Both schools offer Able Seaman, Lifeboatman and Radar courses.

Regulatory Links.

US Coast Guard. The USCG is the US agency responsible for administering the STCW Convention. This is the proverbial horses mouth. It helps to speak horse here!

I.M.O. - The International Maritime Organization is the agency within the United Nations that is the designated repository for the STCW Convention. If you want to get really technical, this is the place to go.
